My 9 year old dog, Lara

my small 9 year old female dog lara had started not to feel well after a second day of being under the weather and being sick to her stomach. I took her to the local vet. she had a temp so they took an xray of her abdomen. what they saw was she had and infection in her uterus. the vet said she had to get to the animal hospital asap.

by the time we left the office her condition was not good. I ran out got a cab  up to the AMC. my vet called ahead and they took her in right away. I was told she had to have surgery to remove the infected tissue. they warned me it could be possible that the infection spread out of that area.

so I wait a few hours for the doctors to finsh and get back to me. it turned out she also had sepsis and the doctors told me she was in very serious condition and that they would do everything they could to save her. it was touch and go with her sugar levels because this bateria  feeds on the sugar.

she spent a few day there. the infection was getting a little better. they thought it would be best for her to be home with the people she loves that it would help in her recovery from the surgery and the infection.

we took her home gave her a lot of tlc  and followed the vets instructions to the letter. she had a follow up with her vet about 2 weeks after. they tested her blood. she still had a little bateria in the blood so we were advised to continue the medication at least another week. its a bit of wise advise  to have your animals fixed when they are young especially the females. it will save them from this type of infection.
