So glad I came here for my kitty's final moments.
After having bladder surgery at another facility, my cat had post-operative abnormal bleeding requiring two blood transfusions. A day after he was discharged as stable, I was horrified to come home and find him bleeding but still conscious.

I rushed him to the AMC. The front desk was quick and to the point. He was seen right away for a quick assessment, and then they whisked him away since the bleeding necessitated urgent care. Shortly after, I was called into a room by Dr. Jared Coren, DVM. He explained the severity of my cat's situation, and then carefully brought up the topic of euthanasia which I was not ready to hear. I was glad he didn't push it, he told me my alternative options if I wanted, but mildly suggested that the best thing for Tiger would be euthanasia. He patiently answered all of my questions, again and again because I think subconsciously I wanted a different answer. When I decided to go ahead with it, he gently handled my poor kitty and seemed to be genuinely sad himself for the little guy.
What impressed me the most about Dr. Coren was his calm and caring demeanor in such a delicate situation. Not only is he a highly competent vet, but he is one of those rare doctors who seems truly down to earth and loves his animal patients.
A week later, I discovered a pleasant surprise in my mailbox. I received a clay plaque with my kitty's paw prints and his name engraved in it along with a sympathy card. Not sure if they do this at other facilities but this procedure was new to me and so appreciated. Bittersweet seeing those paw prints when I had nothing left of him...
Thank you AMC and Dr. Coren.
