Enhanced Rehabilitation and Fitness Service The new Rehabilitation & Fitness Service opened in 2007 and is the only facility of its kind in New York City. The center provides physical therapy for animals suffering from post-op conditions, paralysis, arthritis, diabetes, neurological disorders and obesity. The center hosts the only underwater treadmills for animals and the only Board Certified Rehabilitation Practitioner in New York City.
Advanced MRI Technology By 2nd quarter 2008, the Animal Medical Center will feature a new and improved MRI, the first of it's kind in the city. This unit will be replacing the hospital's current high field MRI with a more powerful machine, allowing the production of higher resolution imaging, faster application (so that animals are under anesthesia for shorter periods) and more rapid diagnoses in situations where time is of the essence. The improved MRI expands imaging capabilities beyond the neurologic into orthopedic and cardio-vascular imaging as well.
