Summary
Assist veterinarians in the Surgery Department in providing superior client service and patient care.   

Responsibilities

  • Assist with all aspects of patient care from admission through discharge.
  • Provide anesthesia support for all AMC services.
  • Train in anesthesia as well as dentistry, operating room, neurology, recovery and general surgical patient care.                 
  • Train in care and use of surgical and anesthetic equipment.
  • Maintain inventory and a clean work environment.
Qualifications: 
  • NYS Veterinary Technician’s license or permit
  • Animal handling experience
  • Experienced in surgical nursing and anesthesia.
  • Able to work successfully as part of a team and autonomously
  • Ability to remain composed in stressful and emergency situations
  • Flexible about working additional hours when necessary
  • Advanced anesthesia skill set, and awareness of tasks associated with a critical and emergent anesthesia procedure       
  • Ability to lead and act autonomously during a crisis       
  • Capable of crash medicine and resuscitation
Shift: 
Shifts will vary based on assignments and the needs of the department.
