Senior Development Officer

The Animal Medical Center in New York City is looking for a full time Senior Development Officer who will primarily be responsible for supporting the AMC’s Annual Giving Program (Silver Paw, Golden Paw, and President’s Council).

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Annual Giving

  • Identify individuals (primarily clients) with the capacity to make annual gifts at the Silver Paw, Golden Paw, and President’s Council levels ($500-$10,000)
  • Develop and implement cultivation strategies for annual donor prospects
  • Manage the solicitation of annual donor prospects
  • Steward donor society members toward renewing and upgrading their annual gift (e.g. through personal interactions when they visit AMC throughout the year)
  • Review donor research profiles and recommend next step(s)
  • Facilitate fulfillment of membership benefits
  • Develop and distribute personalized reports to annual donors who make restricted gifts of $1,000+ (e.g. a report on a community fund that they have supported)
  • Participate in the planning, execution, and follow-up of donor society events, such as the Living Legends Luncheon, the Golden Paw Society Cocktail party, and the President’s Council Dinner
  • Oversee production of the quarterly donor newsletter and annual report

Foundation Giving

  • Identify foundation prospects and develop an annual schedule for foundation submissions
  • Develop and write foundation proposals, including the annual non-revenue-producing activities proposal for funders that provide general support
  • Write and submit grant reports, as required by funders
  • Write and distribute to all foundation funders an annual activities and accomplishments report, and other updates as appropriate
  • Maintain a schedule of completed and anticipated foundation activity
  • Maintain foundation records in Raiser’s Edge
  • Participate with the Executive Director of Development to produce reports for meetings of the Development Committee

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Masters a plus)
  • 3-5 years in a Development Office
  • Excellent writing, editing, analytical and research skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • High level of computer literacy including Microsoft Office and Raiser’s Edge
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a dynamic office setting
