Internal Medicine Coordinator

The Internal Medicine Coordinator works directly with the services, clients and their RDVM offices to ensure a coordinated patient care and communication experience before, during, and after all consultation appointments and procedures.  The IM Coordinator communicates urgent medical information between doctors who may not be immediately available by phone.  Sends all patient visit reports and results to RDVMs as needed and facilitates communication between clients and staff doctors.  The candidate will be responsible for coordinating patient referrals and helps to maintain positive relationships with AMC referring veterinary partners and clients, scheduling appointments, collect medical records, present estimates, help call in prescriptions, arrange discharges, and answer client and RDVM questions.

Skills Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years Referral Coordinator experience (Vet or Human Med) and a minimum of 2 years Veterinary Clerical experience
  • Minimum of 2 years customer service in a professional setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Well organized and the ability to multitask
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff, clients and veterinarian practices

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle communication between the department, clients and DVM
  • Answer calls coming into the department; Handle inquiries
  • Schedule appointments, procedures, and surgeries
  • Confirm appointments and manage wait list
  • Ensure outside medical records and diagnostics are available prior to appointment
  • Keep inpatient owners informed of pets’ status
  • Make sure client concerns or requests are noted and followed through
  • Ensure proper paperwork is filled out for services
  • Keep RDVMs updated
  • Assist doctors in calling in outside Rxs
  • Help arrange discharges and help present estimates. Assist client in accessing funds when applicable
  • Practice liaison to referring practices and attend RDVM focused events to help strengthen relationships.
