Artificial neobladder placement for dogs with resectable lower urinary tract tumors

Purpose

Certain cancers will severely affect bladder function. This study will evaluate placement of an artificial silicone neobladder placed after removal of the distal ureters, urinary bladder and urethra in dogs with urinary tract tumors. A drainage catheter will facilitate manual urine drainage 2-3 times daily.

Eligibility

  • Have transitional cell carcinoma in the bladder and or urethra documented by biopsy
  • Be able to perform manual urine drainage multiple times per day
