Ariel Carruth,
DVM
Dr. Carruth grew up in Asheville, North Carolina. She attended Harvard University on an academic scholarship and majored in biology with a minor in political science. She attended Cornell University for a one-year Master’s program where she became interested in parasitology and research, specifically feline lungworm. She worked at IDEXX Laboratories for a few years as an associate scientist on a variety of projects, including feline lungworm, which ultimately culminated in a patent. However, she missed hands-on work with animals and attended Kansas State University for veterinary school where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2023. After completing a one-year rotating internship program at the ASPCA, she is grateful to have joined the internal medicine team at the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center. Dr. Carruth has a special interest in feline medicine and infectious disease. In her free time, she loves walking around the city, indoor rock climbing and reading. She shares a home with her husband and their three cats.
