Dr. Doug Palma of the Animal Medical Center in New York City

Dr. Doug Palma graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004 as class valedictorian. He completed his rotating internship at the Animal Medical Center from 2004-2005 and then advanced training in his Small Animal Internal Medicine residency from 2005-2007.

In 2008, he was awarded his Small Animal Internal Medicine credentials from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

Dr. Palma has remained at the Animal Medical Center since completion of his residency till today, practicing as a specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine.

He is the residency program director through ACVIM for the training of residents in internal medicine. He has been directly involved in the training and certification of approximately 20 internal medicine residents and over 260 interns.

Dr. Palma has contributed to multiple scientific articles and authored multiple book chapters in internal medicine and interventional endoscopy. He has been awarded multiple awards for outstanding teaching within the hospital and continues to contribute to ongoing clinical research. He has lectured at veterinary conferences throughout the US and Canada on various internal medicine topics.

His special interests include veterinary respiratory disease, gastroenterology and interventional endoscopy.

Dr. Palma is married to his wife Eileen, has one daughter Molly and a Wire Fox Terrier named Oscar.
