Sasha

Meet Sasha, a two-year-old goldendoodle who was rushed to AMC, the only Level 1 Trauma Center in NYC, after a terrifying seizure episode. She was suffering from Acute Hemorrhagic Diarrhea Syndrome, a potentially fatal condition, and was nearly comatose with no neurologic function when she arrived at AMC. Stabilized by the Emergency & Critical Care team, Sasha was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit where where the team cared for her tirelessly around the clock.

On day three, she opened her eyes; by day seven, she was miraculously back on her feet. When Sasha was discharged, she was a shell of her former self – scared, skinny, nearly blind, and barely able to walk – but there was hope because of the comprehensive specialty services available at AMC. After six sessions with our Rehabilitation team, she was walking normally; with monitoring and treatment from our Ophthalmology services, her eyesight steadily improved.

Today, Sasha is back to her healthy, energetic self! Why? Because of Sasha’s will, her owner’s loving care, and because AMC was there—as we have been for over 110 years—to provide the expert, collaborative care she needed.
