New York, NY – March 7, 2024 – As the world’s largest veterinary teaching hospital dedicated to the advancement of veterinary medicine, Schwarzman Animal Medical Center (AMC) announces Pamela Butler as the hospital’s new Executive Director of Development, as part of AMC’s $125 million transformational center-wide expansion and capital campaign.

“We are delighted to welcome Pamela Butler to our development team and as part of the AMC community, supporting our mission to provide excellent and collaborative care to animals and leading the advancement of veterinary medicine as NYC’s only level 1 trauma center,” said Helen M. Irving, RN, MBA, President & Chief Executive Officer of Animal Medical Center. “Pamela is an accomplished leader and fundraiser with a proven track record, coming to us from iconic New York City nonprofit institutions including Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Central Park Conservancy, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art.”

With over three decades of experience as a fundraising and strategic leader in major gifts, endowments and capital campaigns, Pamela Butler was most recently Vice President for Development at Jazz at Lincoln Center, where she increased the operating income, raised the Board’s annual contributions, rebuilt key relationships with major institutional funders, and more. Prior to Jazz at Lincoln Center, Pamela was the Senior Deputy Chief Development Officer for Planned Giving and Administration at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, overseeing nearly 60 staff members and growing the museum’s charitable gift annuity program and working on blended gifts as part of the Fund for the Met campaign. She was also the Director of Planned Giving at the Central Park Conservancy, where she established the planned giving program for the Conservancy.

“As a devoted and long-standing pet owner it has always meant so much to me to know that the team at AMC not only offers remarkable care, but that they are always there for us. The extraordinary talent of our renowned veterinary staff who provide care for pets at the highest level possible has established AMC as a vital resource for New York pet owners. I am excited to support their work and expand their impact. I also look forward to working with the Development team and growing it to bring a strategic and data driven approach to our fundraising efforts,” said Pamela Butler, Executive Director of Development at Animal Medical Center.

The Animal Medical Center recently opened a 7,000 square-foot Denise and Michael Kellen Institute for Surgical Care in January 2024, as a pivotal part of the 83,000 square-foot and $125 million transformational hospital renovation and expansion. Later in 2024, AMC will see the opening of the newly expanded Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit and Special Care Unit, with expected project completion in 2025.

Pamela Butler received her Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts at Connecticut College and has homes in Yorkville and New Jersey, where she resides with her husband and seven cats.
