Schwarzman Animal Medical Center to Host 9th Annual One Health Conference

Hundreds of International Health Professionals Collaborate to Improve Human, Veterinary, and Environmental Health Outcomes

Press Release

(New York, N.Y. – November 8, 2023) The Animal Medical Center’s Ann and Charles Johnson One Health Institute will present virtually its 9th Annual One Health Conference: Connecting Human and Veterinary Medicine: Environmental Impact on Animal and Human Health, from November 13th to 16th. Registration is available now at www.amcny.org/OneHealth2023.

The subject of the conference is environmental impact on animal and human health. Speakers include veterinary specialists in Internal Medicine, Clinical Pharmacology, and Avian Practice from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of California at Davis and physicians and public health experts from the University of Wisconsin, the University of Washington, and the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH).

One Health recognizes the interconnection between human health, animal health, and the environment and advocates for a comprehensive approach to health and environmental problems. By building bridges among physicians, veterinarians, environmental scientists, and public health professionals, the initiative aims to promote, improve, and defend the health and wellbeing of all species.

“The health of animals, people, and the environment is intertwined, and AMC has long been committed to the One Health approach to medicine,” said Katherine Quesenberry, DVM, MPH, DABVP (AVIAN), Chief Medical Officer at AMC. “One Health underlines the need for clinicians in veterinary and human health to work together to better recognize, understand, and treat diseases shared across the species.”

“Through mutual collaborations, veterinarians and physicians, and public health experts can share knowledge and resources to help advance the health of humans and animals,” said Chad West, DVM, MBA, DACVIM (Neurology), Chief Clinical Officer at AMC.

Each one-hour virtual session is free to participants with up to four NYS and RACE-approved continuing education credits available to veterinarians and veterinary technicians. Topics and speakers are:
