The Usdan Institute for Animal Health Education provides our clients and the broader community with important, relevant, and timely animal health information. Our long-term vision is to become a trustworthy resource on a national and international level and ensure that all pet-owning families benefit from the knowledge and expertise generated through our work.
Our mission is to deepen the public’s understanding of general animal health topics, including preventative care and general wellness, raise awareness of public health issues and concerns, and promote the human-animal bond.
The Usdan Institute for Animal Health Education will focus on achieving three main goals that we believe will allow us to successfully reach the largest number of pet owners:
- Outreach and Education: to increase public and client knowledge of general animal health issues and to promote informed pet ownership on topics including preventive and wellness care.
- Public Health Education: to ensure public awareness of any imminent threats, concerns, and/or issues that may arise within the One Health domain and to disseminate that information in a timely manner.
- Human-Animal Bond Education: to promote understanding of the emotional and psychological aspects of a person’s/family’s relationship with their pet(s) and to provide support during challenging or difficult times.
